Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 head iceberg lettuce, chopped
  • 1 cup celery, chopped
  • 1 cup green peas, thawed
  • 4 hard-boiled eggs, chopped
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 cup creamy salad dressing (mayonnaise based)
  • 1/4 cup red onion, thinly sliced (optional layer)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your dressing by mixing mayonnaise with a small amount of sugar and vinegar to taste. Set aside.
  2. In a large, clear glass bowl, begin layering the ingredients. Start with the chopped lettuce as the base layer.
  3. Add the chopped celery and thawed green peas as the second and third layers.
  4. Place the chopped hard-boiled eggs as the fourth layer.
  5. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the eggs for the fifth layer.
  6. Scatter the cooked and crumbled bacon over the cheese for the sixth layer.
  7. Spread the creamy salad dressing evenly over the bacon layer, sealing all the ingredients below. This is the final, seventh layer.
  8. If using, sprinkle the thinly sliced red onion over the dressing.
  9. Cover the bowl and chill the 7 layer salad for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, before serving. This allows the flavors to meld.
  10. When ready to serve, slice down through all the layers to ensure each serving gets a portion of every ingredient.
