Make this incredibly easy Cherry Dump Cake using just three pantry staples. This recipe requires no mixing and bakes into a warm, bubbly dessert that tastes like homemade cherry cobbler. It is perfect for potlucks or weeknight treats.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (21 ounce) can cherry pie filling
  • 1 (15.25 ounce) box dry yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • Optional: Vanilla ice cream for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Pour the entire can of cherry pie filling into the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Spread the filling evenly across the bottom.
  3. Sprinkle the dry cake mix evenly over the layer of cherry filling. Do not mix the layers.
  4. Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the dry cake mix layer.
  5. Bake for 40 to 50 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the cherry filling is bubbly around the edges.
  6. Remove from the oven and let it cool for at least 15 minutes before serving. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Notes

  • For a richer topping, you can substitute the yellow cake mix with a white or butter cake mix.
  • If you prefer a crispier topping, sprinkle 1/2 cup of chopped pecans or walnuts over the butter before baking.
  • This recipe works well in a slow cooker set to low for 3 to 4 hours. Do not cover the slow cooker tightly; use a clean kitchen towel under the lid to catch condensation.
