Make this simple, large batch cocktail recipe for your next gathering. This cranberry sangria uses red wine and fresh citrus for a bright, seasonal punch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (750 ml) bottle dry red wine (like Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon)
  • 1 cup cranberry juice (100% juice)
  • 1/2 cup brandy
  • 1/4 cup orange liqueur (like Cointreau or Triple Sec)
  • 1 orange, thinly sliced
  • 1 lemon, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 1/4 cup sugar (optional, adjust to taste)
  • Ice for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large pitcher or punch bowl, combine the red wine, cranberry juice, brandy, and orange liqueur.
  2. Add the sliced orange, sliced lemon, and cranberries to the liquid mixture.
  3. If you prefer a sweeter sangria, stir in the sugar until it dissolves.
  4. Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the fruit flavors to infuse the wine. This is key for make ahead party sangria.
  5. When ready to serve, taste the sangria and adjust sweetness if needed.
  6. Serve the cranberry sangria over ice, making sure each glass gets some of the soaked fruit.

Notes

  • For a sparkling cranberry wine variation, add 1 cup of chilled club soda or sparkling water just before serving.
  • You can substitute the brandy with apple brandy for a different flavor profile.
  • This recipe works well as a Thanksgiving beverage guide option or an easy Christmas drink.
