Make fresh green beans taste incredible with this quick recipe featuring a sweet and savory honey garlic glaze and smoky bacon. This side dish is perfect for weeknight dinners or as a flavorful addition to your Thanksgiving table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 4 slices bacon, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the chopped bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crisp. Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and set aside, leaving the bacon grease in the skillet.
  2. Add the trimmed green beans to the skillet with the bacon grease. Sauté for 5 to 7 minutes until the beans are tender-crisp.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and butter until combined.
  4. Pour the honey garlic mixture over the green beans in the skillet. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens and coats the beans.
  5. Remove the skillet from the heat. Stir in the reserved crispy bacon pieces. Season with salt and pepper as needed.
  6. Serve immediately as a flavorful side dish.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, substitute regular soy sauce with low-sodium soy sauce if you are watching your salt intake.
  • If you prefer a crispier texture, roast the green beans at 400°F for 15 minutes before tossing them with the glaze.
  • This recipe pairs well with roasted chicken or pork chops for a complete meal.
