Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 12 small corn or flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage (for slaw)
  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 lime, cut into wedges
  • For the Creamy Garlic Lime Crema:
  • 1/2 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • For the Cilantro Lime Dressing:
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Creamy Garlic Lime Crema: In a small bowl, whisk together the sour cream, mayonnaise, minced garlic, lime juice, and salt until smooth. Cover and refrigerate while you prepare the shrimp.
  2. Prepare the Cilantro Lime Dressing: In another small bowl, combine the chopped cilantro, lime juice, olive oil, and a pinch of salt. Set aside.
  3. Season the Shrimp: In a medium bowl, toss the shrimp with 1 tablespoon of olive oil, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
  4. Cook the Shrimp: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned shrimp in a single layer. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes per side until pink and opaque. Do not overcook. Remove the shrimp from the heat.
  5. Warm the Tortillas: Warm the tortillas according to package directions, either in a dry skillet or wrapped in a damp paper towel in the microwave.
  6. Assemble the Tacos: Place a portion of cooked shrimp onto each warm tortilla. Top with shredded cabbage and a sprinkle of fresh cilantro.
  7. Finish the Tacos: Drizzle generously with the Creamy Garlic Lime Crema and then lightly over the top with the Cilantro Lime Dressing. Serve immediately with lime wedges.

Notes

  • For a healthier option, use Greek yogurt instead of sour cream in the crema.
  • If you prefer a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the shrimp seasoning mix.
  • You can quickly make a creamy slaw by mixing the shredded cabbage with one tablespoon of the prepared Garlic Lime Crema.
