- 1 pound ground beef
- 8 ounces dried egg noodles (or spaghetti)
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 cup shredded carrots
- 1 cup chopped green cabbage
- 4 green onions, sliced (white and green parts separated)
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- Cook the noodles according to package directions. Drain them and set aside.
- While the noodles cook, heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until it is fully browned. Drain off any excess fat.
- Add the minced garlic, grated ginger, and the white parts of the green onions to the beef. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add the shredded carrots and cabbage to the skillet. Stir fry for 3 to 4 minutes until the vegetables begin to soften slightly.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and black pepper to create the sauce.
- Add the cooked noodles to the skillet with the beef and vegetables. Pour the sauce over everything.
- Toss continuously for 1 to 2 minutes until the noodles are evenly coated and heated through.
- Remove from heat. Stir in the green parts of the sliced green onions before serving immediately.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, substitute dark soy sauce for regular soy sauce in the sauce mixture.
- If you do not have oyster sauce, you can use an equal amount of hoisin sauce or substitute with more soy sauce and a pinch of sugar.
- This recipe makes a great budget friendly ground beef asian recipe.
