Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 8 ounces dried egg noodles (or spaghetti)
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 1 cup chopped green cabbage
  • 4 green onions, sliced (white and green parts separated)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Cook the noodles according to package directions. Drain them and set aside.
  2. While the noodles cook, heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until it is fully browned. Drain off any excess fat.
  4. Add the minced garlic, grated ginger, and the white parts of the green onions to the beef. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  5. Add the shredded carrots and cabbage to the skillet. Stir fry for 3 to 4 minutes until the vegetables begin to soften slightly.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and black pepper to create the sauce.
  7. Add the cooked noodles to the skillet with the beef and vegetables. Pour the sauce over everything.
  8. Toss continuously for 1 to 2 minutes until the noodles are evenly coated and heated through.
  9. Remove from heat. Stir in the green parts of the sliced green onions before serving immediately.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, substitute dark soy sauce for regular soy sauce in the sauce mixture.
  • If you do not have oyster sauce, you can use an equal amount of hoisin sauce or substitute with more soy sauce and a pinch of sugar.
